STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Francis

WE WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE FRANCIS FOR BEING
APRIL'S STUDENT OF THE MONTH.

LEARNING FROM ART
Over the last few months, the fifth graders have been very fortunate to be able to participate in an artist residency program. We've been working with Mr West, a local artist and architect, to create a scale map of our neighborhood. We also worked with a talented cartographer named Mr. Downer. We learn many interesting things about creating map. We used many of our math skills to successufully complete this exciting project.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Last month's liturature theme was VOICES FROM THE PAST. We read literature by and about Americans of the past. We discussed and wrote about what we learned from the literature. We also had to write research reports on a topic of our own choosing. And finally, we created a presentation about a day in the life of a child from America's past.

Read some of our great point of view essays.
